On Jan. 9, Evanston Township High School (ETHS) staff reported to the Evanston Police Department that they had received an allegation that an ETHS staff member had an improper relationship with a 17-year old female student. It was learned that the subject of the allegation was a 33-year old man employed in the Security Department of the high school, said Commander Ryan Glew of the Evanston Police Department.
The Evanston Police investigated the allegation, and over the course of several weeks, Evanston Police attempted numerous times to contact and interview the man, said Commander Glew. On Feb. 12, the man surrendered himself to Evanston Police with his attorney but did not make a statement.
Evanston Police presented the case to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, which approved one count that alleges criminal sexual assault, said Commander Glew. The alleged sexual assault did not occur on ETHS property or during school hours, said the Commander.
