Evanston/Skokie School District 65 is inviting incoming kindergarten families to learn more about its two magnet school options – Dr. Bessie Rhodes School of Global Studies and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Literary and Fine Arts School. Each school will host an open house for new families to learn more about the kindergarten experience. Bessie Rhodes (3701 Davis Street, Skokie) will be held on Wednesday, February 20, and King Arts (2424 Lake Street, Evanston) will be held on Thursday, February 21. Both will begin at 7pm.

Both provide a continuous school setting from kindergarten through eighth grade and have specialized focuses on global studies (Bessie Rhodes) and literacy and fine arts (King Arts).

Students must be registered for their attendance area school prior to completing an application for enrollment in a magnet school. Registration for incoming kindergarten students will be held on March 6-8.

Magnet school open houses were originally scheduled in January but were canceled due to the extreme cold.
