The Justin Wynn Fund honored Liz Brieva, Megan Livatino and Chris Livatino with the 2019 Buddy Portugal Award at the fourth annual Red Tie Soirée at the Evanston Art Center on February 10. The award is given annually to adults who demonstrate dedication, inspiration and compassion within the Justin Wynn Leadership Academy.

Each of the three honorees has played an integral role in Girls Play Sports (GPS), founded in 2012 with the goal of fostering leadership skills and confidence in girls through their participation in a wide variety of sports, with a focus on 3rd-8th grade girls. Ms. Livatino has served as executive director of GPS since 2014, and Mr. Livatino co-founded the organization. Ms. Brieva, who was instrumental in the creation of GPA, is director of the Team GPS program.

The Justin Wynn Fund, a 501c3 organization, was founded in 1987 to honor the memory and legacy of Justin Wynn, a passionate and service-minded leader who died tragically at the age of 9. Since 1988, the organization has celebrated Justin’s life by honoring more than 500 Justin Wynn Award recipients, who are selected for their leadership, citizenship and sportsmanship.
