On Feb. 21, at 11:50 a.m., Evanston patrol officers responded to the 2400 block of Main Street for a call of a male subject by a white Volkswagen who was possibly armed. The caller did provide a description of the subject, said Commander Ryan Glew of the Evanston Police Department.

Officers arrived on scene and located both the vehicle and subject, a 28 year-old Evanston man. The subject told officers that he had a rifle locked in the trunk of his white Volkswagen and that he had a FOID card. Officers looked through a window into the subject’s vehicle and observed a Glock 19 9mm handgun in plain view on the floor in the back seat, said the Commander.

The subject was charged with one felony count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon with respect to the Glock handgun, said the Commander. The Commander added that the subject had a FOID card but did not have a concealed carry permit.
