Evanston-based Bach Week Festival’s Gallery Gala fundraiser will feature intimate music of J.S. Bach at 5:30 p.m. on March 24, at the Evanston Art Center, 1717 Central St. Proceeds from the Gallery Gala, which includes light hors d’oeuvres, wine and other beverages, will support the 46th annual Bach Week Festival, to be held April 26-May 3.
“Guests will experience vocal and instrumental music that would have been heard in the Bach family household,” says Richard Webster, Bach Week’s music director since 1975 and emcee for the fundraiser. “They’ll also have the opportunity to browse art exhibits curated by the center. It’ll be an evening of pleasures for the eye as well as the ear.”
Guests will be able view four exhibits in the Evanston Art Center’s first and second floor galleries: works by Paula Froehle, Laurie LeBreton and Deborah Hirshfield; Jessica Gondek’s “Enterprising Machines”; work by C. Stowe Myers, a 20th-century American artist, industrial designer and photographer; and works by Evanston native Karl Johnson.
Tickets are $60 for the benefit and are available at the door or online at https://tinyurl.com/BachWeekGalleryGala and by phone, 800-838-3006.
