At 13:13 p.m., Sunday, March 31, 2019, Evanston fire companies responded to 1216 South Blvd, for the report of a structure fire in a single family, one-and-half story bungalow.

The first arriving company arrived on scene within three minutes of the dispatch, reporting heavy smoke coming from the chimney and basement windows. Engine 22 crew initiated an interior attack finding a working fire in the basement. Evanston fire companies quickly dowsed the fire and began property preservation and overhaul. The alarm was held to a Code 4 response utilizing all Evanston fire companies.

There were no reported civilian injuries and two cats saved from the structure. The extent of damage to the structure has displaced the family, who are now being assisted by Red Cross. it appears the fire started in the basement, but still under investigation.
