In an exciting change of pace, the North Shore Choral Society welcomes local singer-songwriter Andrew Calhoun and an ensemble cast in a compelling performance titled “The Liberty Lines” at 3 p.m. on April 7 at the Levy Senior Center, 300 Dodge Ave.

Mr. Calhoun and the ensemble will be joined by NSCS frequent collaborator, the accomplished composer and pianist Thomas W. Jefferson, who will perform his original settings of spirituals. The moving, two-act program features folk songs and plantation spirituals interwoven with readings and first-person narratives. Attendees will witness the history of the Underground Railroad, traced as a grassroots movement of conscience which spurred the Civil War.

Tickets are available at www.northshorechoral.website/2019-benefit.html.
