The Flying Fish swim team of YWCA Evanston/North Shore finished sixth overall at the Sun Kissed Invitational, a national meet held in Charlotte, North Carolina, March 28-31.
Matt Gibson led the way for the Flying Fish, winning the senior boys 200-yard backstroke (1:51.08) and 200-yard butterfly (1:51.08). Gibson also took third in the 100-yard backstroke (51.86). Teammate Brendan Long placed second in the senior boys 500-yard freestyle (4:40.19).
In the senior girls division, Lily Consiglio took second in the 100-yard butterfly (55.82) and third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.56). Erin Long finished third in the senior girls 200-yard freestyle (1:51.99) and third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:02.42).
Lily and Erin teamed up with Cassie Tingley and Natalie Long to finish third in the senior girls 400-yard freestyle relay (3:30.88). The same group also finished third in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:36.53).
With nearly 500 swimmers on the Flying Fish swim team and 1,000 annually in the Flying Fish Swim School, Flying Fish Aquatics at YWCA Evanston/North Shore is one of the largest aquatics programs in Illinois. Learn more at ywca-ens/flying-fish-aquatics.
