Since its establishment in 1882, Second Baptist Church in Evanston has been known for its wide-ranging mission work.
The church’s outreach ministries provide programs and services that support the critical merging of church and community. Last month, the Second Baptist outreach ministry reached out to Citadel Healthcare, hosting their annual service, “Jesus’ Seven Last Words from the Cross,” to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus.
The service included a musical celebration by Rev. Vernon
Clark and mem-bers of the choir. Minister Ina Cagle led the Call to Worship.
The Seven Last Words were read by Minister Primlavora Humphries, Rhonda Craven, Deacon Craig Watson, Trustee Winston Shelby, Rev. Joe Waters, Minister Darryl Smith, and Minister Sharon Weeks. Citadel Healthcare, at 432 Poplar Drive in Wilmette, provides short-term rehabilitation and long-term care.
