Evanston’s only locally produced art and craft festival, the Custer Street Fair, took place June 15 and 16. Attendees enjoyed music, admired and purchased handmade and ethnic clothes and jewelry and, despite the cold weather, even lined up for ice cream.
Because of a boycott of the festival, organized through misinformation, that Immigration and Customs Enforcement had a presence there, organizers said, the crowds were smaller than usual. (see page 1 and page 8).
This year’s festival may have been on the rocks, but there was no ICE.
