The 19th Annual BKG golf outing will tee off on June 28 at Canal Shores Golf Course, 1030 Central St. The event is supported by the Kiwanis Club of Evanston and named after the late Bruce K. Goodman, businessman, Kiwanian and golf-lover. The event was renamed in Mr. Goodman’s honor last year. The outing raises funds for wrestling programs throughout the area.
Ken Kraft, former wrestling coach at Northwestern and Olympic television reporter for the sport, began the event, which was played on several local courses.
“We came home to Canal Shores,” said Jim Wolinski, president of the Evanston Kiwanis Club, which will celebrate its 100th year in Evanston in 2020. “It was a good move, as we attracted more golfers than we had in the past, which enabled us to distribute close to $29,000 in grants to local organizations supporting youth and children in our town. And we can give back to the community. For example, Curt’s Café has been our food supplier for the past four years.”
Anyone wishing more information on playing, lunch or sponsorships may contact Mr. Wolinski, 847-436-2042 or Marian Kurz, 847-491-1938.
