On July 6, hundreds of Evanstonians packed their cars with old papers, fluorescent light bulbs, clothing, expired medications and more and drove them to Evanston Township High School. Residents of Evanston and all communities served by the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County were allowed to bring their recyclables to the ninth annual Evanston Recycles event.
Beginning near the athletic fields on Church Street, recycling-event traffic funneled to a single lane heading east, wound around to Dodge Avenue, to Lake Street and then on into the high school’s south parking lot.
