Have you ever wanted to learn more about how the police department works?  Perhaps you are interested in a career in law enforcement? Or maybe you would just like to be more civically engaged.  If any of these situations apply to you, you’re in luck!

The Evanston Police Department Citizen Police Academy program was started in 1994 which makes this our 25th year. The upcoming fall session is our 50th Class. We are currently accepting applications for our Golden Class.

This interactive program is facilitated by Evanston officers and covers a wide range of topics relating to the Evanston Police Department. The program gives participants a closer look at the Evanston Police Department and policing as it relates to Evanston. Some of the topics include criminal investigations, traffic procedures, gangs crimes, defensive tactics and much more.

The program lasts 13 weeks and meets Wednesday evenings 7–9:30 p.m. The program culminates with a commencement ceremony and reception. The 2019 fall session dates runs from August 28-November 20.

The program is completely free and open to those that live and/or work in Evanston. The application along with additional details can be found on the City of Evanston website by clicking here.
