NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore) has been ranked as the No. 3 hospital in both the Chicago metro area and the state of Illinois in the 2019-20 U.S. News & World Report’s Annual Best Hospitals survey. The NorthShore system, headquartered in Evanston includes four hospitals – Evanston, Glenbrook, Highland Park and Skokie.
More than 4,500 hospitals nationwide were analyzed and ranked in 25 different specialties.
“This ranking is a testament to the hard work and effort of NorthShore clinicians and staff to deliver the highest quality care to our patients,” said JP Gallagher, NorthShore President and Chief Executive Officer. “We are committed to continuing to improve our performance across the organization in quality and patient-centered outcomes.”
NorthShore was nationally ranked in Gynecology (No. 37) and Urology (No. 50), and also recognized as “high-performing” in six clinical specialties (Gastroenterology and GI surgery, Geriatrics, Nephrology, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, and Pulmonology and Lung Surgery) — and all nine complex procedures and conditions included in the rankings.

Northwestern Memorial Hospital was ranked No. 1 in the Chicago area, University of Chicago Medical Center was ranked No. 2, Rush University Medical Center was also ranked No. 3, and Loyola University Medical Center was ranked No. 5.
