Pete Miller’s Evanston, 1557 Sherman Ave., closed its doors on Aug. 19. The restaurant, known for its prime steaks and evening jazz entertainment, had been a part of Evanston’s restaurant scene for almost two decades – originally as one of the Clean Plate Club restaurants and later as part of the Pete Miller’s group.

Paul Zalmezak, Economic Development Manager for the City, told the RoundTable that the general manager of Pete Miller’s “reported that Pete Miller’s corporate decided to close all locations. The Evanston restaurant was reportedly doing well, but the performance of the corporation as a whole brought the Evanston location down with it.”

Mr. Zalmezak added, “We’re going to work with the landlord to work hard to find another operator who can fill the void. Pete Miller’s was an institution. We’re certain a new institution is waiting in the wings.”
