Police Explorer Jennifer Becerra, one of the founding members of Evanston Police Department Explorer Post 1863 who at one point served as a post captain, graduated from Evanston Township High School with a 3.84 GPA making her a part of the “High Distinction” category at ETHS.
She received the Wyn Academic Scholarship and made honor roll all four years at ETHS. As a student at ETHS she served as a student ambassador, member of Latino Quest and a Wrestling Manager; she continues to volunteer at her church.
This fall, Jennifer will attend Lake Forest College and major in Business. She was recently hired as a part-time Community Service Officer with Lake Forest Police Department, an opportunity that arose from her involvement with the Explorers.
Jennifer says, “The Evanston Police Department Explorers program has really given me a different perspective of Law Enforcement. I have gained a lot of knowledge through hands-on activities and even made some good friends and important connections. I feel fortunate to be part of the Explorers program, as it has been a comfortable and fun space for me to be able to explore my interest in Law Enforcement. In the future, I hope to give back to my Evanston community as a Police Officer, as this has always been my dream.”
The Evanston Police Department congratulates Jennifer and thanks her for all the contributions to the Evanston Community and to the Explorers.
