On Saturday, October 5, the Evanston Police Department will offer a FREE one day Active Shooter Response Training class. Unfortunately, mass shootings have become a common occurrence in today’s society. We take the safety of our community very seriously, and feel this training will be beneficial to all that attend. Members of the Evanston Police Department have been offering Active Shooter Response Training and Emergency Action Preparedness to a variety of local businesses, organizations, and faith based communities over the past several years.

As we strive to equip citizens and residents with the tools needed to maintain personal safety, we feel it is important to offer this training to the Evanston community as a whole. This training is designed to offer a pro-active response to attendees in the event of a crisis. The training will include a variety of topics such as:

  • Trends
  • Preparedness
  • Organizational Response
  • Individual Response
  • Basic Life Saving Overview
  • Interactive Response Drills

This FREE interactive training is approximately 4 hours long (10 a.m.-2 p.m.) and is open to those that live and/or work in Evanston. Pre-registration is required and you must be 18 years old to attend.

Depending on the community response, additional training sessions may be offered at a later date.
