Evanston’s fingerpicking champ Eric Lugosch will be sharing the stage with Pat Donohue next month at SPACE.
Mr. Lugosch’s arrangements of traditional songs and jazz standards are now considered classics in picking circles, where he is also regarded as one of America’s best fingerstyle original composers, as well as a talented songwriter.
As the guitarist for the “Guys All-Star Shoe Band” of Minnesota Public Radio’s “A Prairie Home Companion,” Mr. Donohue could show off his licks and distinctive original songs to millions of listeners each week. Over the years he has captivated audiences with his unique original compositions, dazzling instrumentals and humor.
These two consecutive winners, in 1983 and 1984, of the National Fingerpicking Championship will be performing solo sets with some duets thrown in for good measure. This intimate matinee performance will thrill all fingerpicking guitar aficionados and all fans of jazz, blues, traditional folk and contemporary songwriting.
“Pat is the creme de la creme of fingerstyle acoustic guitarists and I am truly honored he’s making time to play my small series,” Mr. Lugosch said.
Mr. Lugosch will welcom Mr. Donohue to his Fingerpicking Matinee at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 6 at SPACE, 1245 Chicago Ave.
