Despite the chilly weather, the 28th annual pumpkin sale was a success, raising more than $3,000 for the Evanston School Children’s Clothing Association (ESSCA). Held at Independence Park on Oct. 13, the event featured refreshments, face-painting, a craft table and pumpkins. Coldwell Banker donates the pumpkins, and all proceeds go to ESCCA, which provides a full wardrobe of clothing and shoes for over 600 District 65 students in need each year. Clothing assistance services are performed efficiently and discreetly, always keeping the dignity of the families in mind.
Currently, the inventory of large sizes, particularly sizes 14-18 (even men’s clothes) is very low. Anyone who wishes to donate gently used jackets and snow pants may drop them off at any District 65 school or at the ESCCA bin behind the District 65 administration building at 1500 Mc Daniel Ave. Monetary donations are always appreciated. More information is available at info@escca.org.
