On Oct. 19, Curt’s Café held its annual fundraising event at which Evanston Police Officers Enjoli Daley and Adam Howard were acknowledged for their continued efforts in the community and working with youth. Mayor Stephen Hagerty and Police Chief Demitrous Cook presented the “Life Changer” award from Curt’s Café to the officers.
Officer Daley is the Community Engagement and Programs Coordinator. She is a facilitator for the Citizen Police Academy, S.T.A.R. Youth Program and Explorer Program, and she recently co-coordinated a Community Active Shooter Response Training.
She is a 13-year veteran of the Department and has facilitated and initiated a variety of department programs and outreach endeavors, such as a holiday toy drive for a local shelter, holiday parties for youth
in a local group home, an annual sexual assault awareness walk, and a re-launch the department’s Police Explorer Program.
She has volunteered her time and efforts to many local organizations including Curt’s Café, having served on its board, and Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault.
Officer Howard, an 11-year veteran of the department, has been a member of the Community Strategies Unit since 2015. Throughout his tenure, Officer Howard has developed a series of programs to enhance the community, including The C.L.E.A.R. Method of Risk Reduction and “Five-O Fitness.”
In 2017, Officer Howard co-founded the Officer and Gentlemen Academy, a male mentoring program, in partnership with the Evanston/Skokie School District 65. The academy mentors and educates middle school boys in Evanston. This program aims to educate, inspire and empower young men to reach their full potential. The program has received recognition for its commitment to serving Evanston youth: The 2018 Joe “Butch” Martin “Real M.M.E.N.” (Men Meeting Evanston’s Needs) Award, the 2018 NAACP Evanston-North Shore Chapter’s Community Service Award and the 2019 Black Business Consortium of Evanston-North Shore’s Community Service Award.
Curt’s Cafe is a local non-profit that provides life skills and job training to youth in challenging situations. Its graduates have gone on to lead promising and successful lives.
