Saint Francis Closing 18-Bed Obstetric Unit

On Oct. 22, the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board  approved a request by AMITA Health Saint Francis Hospital for discontinuation of the 18-bed obstetric category of service at the hospital, 355 Ridge Ave. 

According to the Board’s Staff Report, during calendar 2018, the hospital’s obstetrics average daily census was 4.05 patients, down from 4.88 patients the previous year. Except for emergency situations, deliveries will no longer be performed at the hospital.
