Jean L. Schweitzer, 91, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away, Saturday, November 16, 2019, at DeKalb Area Retirement Center Oak Crest.

She was born March 16, 1928, in Malta, Illinois, the daughter of Harvey J. and Anna (Wright) Schweitzer, Sr.  

Jean graduated from Malta High School and from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing Education from Teacher’s College, Columbia University and New York City College.  Jean worked as a Registered Nurse for the Evanston, Illinois Schools until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of Northwest Malta United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her brother, Harvey (April) of Champaign; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Helen Otto, and her nephew John Schweitzer .

The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November  22, 2019 at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb with her nephew Brian Chaille officiating. Burial will follow at Malta Cemetery in Malta, Illinois. Reception to follow at the Malta United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 10.00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson Funeral Home.
