In December, the Evanston/Skokie School District 65 School Board approved the appointment of Dr. Devon Horton as the new Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1, 2020. Nearly 1,000 staff members, students, parents, and community members shared their perspectives and insights as part of the superintendent search process that took place last fall.
The Evanston/Skokie community and District 65 family are invited to meet Dr. Horton at a community open house on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. The meet and greet will be held from 5:30-7pm at the Joseph E. Hill Education Center located at 1500 McDaniel Avenue, Evanston. Light refreshments will be served.
Dr. Devon Horton currently serves as the Chief of Schools for the Jefferson County Public School System in Louisville, KY. He began his career in Chicago Public Schools, where he was a principal, assistant principal, and middle school teacher. Dr. Horton’s philosophy centers on educational equity as the lever to better student outcomes.
