The second concert of the Evanston Symphony Orchestra’s 74th season – themed Great Composers – will feature virtuoso pianist Jeffrey Biegel, a faculty member at Brooklyn College of the City Universities of New York. He will perform the Concerto in F by George Gershwin in a program conducted by Music Director Lawrence Eckerling at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 2 in Pick-Staiger Hall on the Northwestern University campus..


The remainder of this all-American concert will include the ever-popular “Grand Canyon Suite” of Ferde Grofé, “Blow It Up, Start Again” by Jonathan Newman, and the “Lyric for Strings” by George Walker, the first African-American composer to win the Pulitzer Prize in Music.
