Democratic Party of Evanston President Michelle Jordan reported a “fantastic turnout” at the Feb. 9 endorsement session.
Only two – one candidate and one referendum question – attained the DPOE threshold of endorsement by receiving a two-thirds majority of members attending: Cook County State’s Attorney candidate and incumbent Kim Foxx and the referendum to maintain nonpartisan elections in Evanston.
In the popular vote, Bernie Sanders was the winner. Had DPOE used the “ranked choice” voting method, Elizabeth Warren would have won, after six rounds, by four votes. Other popular winners were Michael Cabonargi for Cook County Circuit Court Clerk and Daniel Epstein for Illinois Supreme Court.
A majority also voted in favor of the Evanston Voter Initiative referendum.
