The City of Evanston’s Affordable Housing Plan Steering Committee is hosting a Community Workshop on Thurs., March 5, 7 p.m., at the Morton Civic Center, Parasol Room (Room 4900), where members of the community are invited to share their feedback about housing affordability solutions in Evanston and to exchange ideas on affordable housing.
Housing is considered affordable when a household spends 30 percent or less of their gross monthly income on housing costs. Currently, over 40 percent of Evanston residents spend more than 30 percent.
The City is working to expand affordable housing options in Evanston by engaging residents on a wide range of potential housing strategies, including zoning changes to allow for more housing options and to address affordability issues.
Those interested in attending the Community Workshop should register ahead of time at cityofevanston.org/workshopregistration. Those who are unable to attend can provide their feedback through an online survey at cityofevanston.org/housingsurvey.
