To help limit the spread of COVID-19 and to protect the health and well-being of residents and staff, the City of Evanston has suspended permitting and building inspection activities until April 7. Previously scheduled building inspections will be held until Governor Pritzker’s Stay at Home Order is lifted.

To request a future building inspection, community members may call or text 847-448-4311 to be placed on a list to be contacted when inspections resume. Plan review and permit applications can continue to be submitted online by emailing permitdesk@cityofevanston.org; however, new permits will not be issued until the Stay at Home Order is lifted.

Building permit and inspection requests deemed an emergency or those with an extenuating circumstance may still be considered. Residents who believe their project meets this criteria should email emergencypermits@cityofevanston.org.

In accordance with the Stay at Home Order, active construction projects may continue at the building owner or contractor’s discretion.

Anyone wishing more information may call or text 847-448-4311 or dial 311 in Evanston.
