The number of confirmed cases of Evanston residents having COVID-19 grew to 124 as of 3 p.m. today, April 7, according to information provided by the City of Evanston. This is an increase of 4 cases since yesterday, April 6. The number of cases has increased by 57 cases since last Monday. The trend is shown in the accompanying chart.
For Chicago, the COVID-19 cases grew from 5,067 cases yesterday to 5,506 today; the cases in Cook County grew from 8,728 yesterday to 9,501 today; and the cases in Illinois grew from 12,262 to 13,549. A total of 68,732 people in Illinois have been tested for COVID-19. The trend is shown in the second chart in the chart box.
Since April 1, the number of COVID-19 cases in Chicago has increased by 80%, the number in Cook County has increased by 85%, and the number in Illinois has increased by76%.
The third chart in the chart box gives a breakdown of COVID-19 cases by racial/ethnic groups.Given the much lower percentage of black people in the State, it reflects that black people are disproportionately impacted.
