District 65 leadership has identified “kindergarten readiness” as a significant contributor to long-term academic success. Yet, many Evanston children enter elementary school without the skills and knowledge that constitute a “strong start to kindergarten.”
Evanston Cradle to Career (EC2C) is working to address this challenge. Evanston early childhood and kindergarten educators have defined key skills and knowledge linked to kindergarten success. EC2C has created a free guide for parents, illustrating at-home activities that build the specific knowledge and skills needed to be best prepare for kindergarten.
Parents are hungry for activity ideas right now! There is no better time to support preschool parents and children with this tool. The Strong Start to Kindergarten Parent Activity Guide gives every parent the information needed to help their child secure the strong educational foundation they deserve.
Copies of the Strong Start to Kindergarten Parent Activity Guide (in English and Spanish) are available here:
Print copies will be available at the District 65 administration office, 1500 McDaniel Ave., when it reopens.
