On April 27, 2020, at approximately 12:47 p.m. Evanston Police Officers responded to the area of Howard Street and Chicago Avenue, after receiving a call that a female had been shot in the chest.  Upon officers arrival there were no victims or offenders at the location. Approximately 10 minutes after the original shots fired call a 28-year-old Evanston resident arrived at Evanston Hospital with gunshot wounds to her right arm and chest.

Officers and Detectives investigated and learned that the shooting occurred in the 500 block of Howard St. The victim was the passenger in a vehicle, when another vehicle pulled alongside the vehicle she was traveling in and opened fire. The victim was struck twice and was driven to the hospital.

Detectives conducted an investigation that included interviewing the victim, and witnesses along with reviewing surveillance footage. The offender was identified, and detectives obtained an arrest warrant for him. On May 11, the suspect was taken into custody in Bloomington, Ill. He has been charged with one felony count of aggravated battery with a firearm and is being held in Cook County jail. The next court date is May 28, at 1:30 p.m. in room 105 at the Skokie Courthouse.
