Dr. Lanée Walls, Director of Special Education at Evanston Township High School, has resigned her position to become assistant superintendent in another district, Superintendent Eric Witherspoon told the RoundTable in response to an email question.
Under her guidance, ETHS established its day school at 1233 Hartrey Ave., which opened last summer with about 20 students. The day school, also called the alt school, returned several ETHS students who were being educated in other districts to Evanston. The move allowed these students to participate in certain classes and activities at the high school, shortened their commute to school by in some instances more than an hour a day, and saved the District in transportation costs.
