Evanston Art Connects kicked off this Memorial Day Weekend with a self-guided art stroll throughout the city. As this is typically a major travel weekend, the goal was to provide an inspiring, creative staycation activity for residents and local visitors while also supporting local businesses.
Through June 9, 55 businesses will host 60 plus artists in their storefront windows in Downtown Evanston, Main-Dempster Mile and Central Street Evanston business districts.
The Evanston Art Connects map also includes Art in Place installations by CNL Projects, Art Encounter EMAP murals, City of Evanston Public Art and community art installations. The installations will remain up through June 9 and some through June 20. View the map of art installations and public art at bit.ly/EvanstonArtConnects
While you are walking around, please practice safe physical distancing by always wearing your mask or face covering, and maintaining a 6 ft distance from others. There will be signage and volunteers from stationed in Downtown Evanston during performances to remind people not to gather and maintain a 6-foot distance.
Citywide Initiative
A Citywide art initiative invites anyone and everyone to make art at home and display it for all to see. Beyond front doors and yard signs, we’re inviting all Evanston residents to “art-bomb” Evanston through June 9. On Saturday, May 30, there will be a citywide Day of Creativity for everyone to get involved. Learn more at evanstonmade.org and kidscreatechange.com.
