The Evanston Fire Department promotes Firefighter Brandon Gatewood to the rank of Fire Apparatus Operator (FAO), effective June 8.

FAO Gatewood began his career with the Evanston Fire Department on March 1, 2007. Since that time, he has proven to be a dedicated member who has consistently worked to improve important aspects of the department. FAO Gatewood became a Paramedic in 2008 and served as a Paramedic Preceptor for three years. An active member of the Training Committee, Gatewood has helped shape departmental policies. Since 2009, he has been an active member of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) Hazardous Materials Team. FAO Gatewood currently holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.

“With his promotion, FAO Gatewood is taking on a critically important position in the department where he, in addition to his firefighting and EMS duties, will also be responsible for the operation of million dollar fire apparatus,” says Fire Chief Brian Scott. “With his extensive experience and training, I know he will be up for the challenge.”
