On July 23, at 1:16 a.m., Evanston police responded to a shooting in the 300 block of Howard Street. When officers arrived, they located the victim lying on the ground near the CTA Red Line Station. The victim is a Brian Carrion, 21, of Glenview. Chicago Fire Department Paramedics attempted to treat the victim, but he was deceased.
Chicago Police located a second victim in the area. A 21-year-old male Evanston resident suffered a graze wound to the head. The second victim was transported to Saint Francis Hospital where he was treated and released.
Detectives and forensics specialists from the Evanston Police Department and NORTAF Major Crimes Task Force are investigating. The initial investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation that started on the street near Marshfield Avenue and Howard Street. Detectives are working to identify the victim and notify his family.
