Corey Winchester, History and Social Sciences teacher at Evanston Township High School, was named the 2020 Illinois History Teacher of the year by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.

Mr. Winchester was recognized for his work teaching U.S. History and Sociology of Class, Gender, and Race at ETHS, where he also serves as the coordinator of Students Organized Against Racism (SOAR). Since joining ETHS in 2010, he has received a number of professional accolades that speak to his dedication to the education and learning experiences of students. In 2019, he received the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching.

As part of the award recognition, ETHS will receive a core archive of American history books and Gilder Lehrman educational materials.
