City Council will hold a special meeting on Oct. 2 beginning at 8:45 a.m. The meeting will be held remotely, because of the executive order by Governor J.B. suspending in-person attendance requirements for public meetings.

After a roll call, announcements and communications from the Mayor and the City Clerk, and comments from the public, the Council will adjourn to executive session to discuss “personnel,” reportedly a winnowed selection of candidates for the position of City Manager.

No final action may be taken in executive session. The agenda states that the Call of the Wards and adjournment, which must be made in open session, will take place after the executive session.

As has been the case during this pandemic, residents will not be able to provide public comment in-person at the meeting. Those wishing to make public comments at the City Council meetings may submit written comments in advance or sign up to provide public comment by phone or video during the meeting by completing the City Clerk’s Office’s online form at www.cityofevanston.org/government/cityclerk/public-comment-sign-up or by calling/texting 847-448-4311.

Community members may watch the City Council meeting online at www.cityofevanston.org/channel16 or on Cable Channel 16.
