The City of Evanston is providing the community with an update on its search for a new City Manager.

On Sept. 24, the Evanston City Council met with GovHR, the City’s executive search firm, to review applicants and select candidates to move forward to the first round of interviews. On Oct. 2, the Evanston City Council will meet in Executive Session to conduct interviews with selected candidates. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:45 a.m., with public comment before the executive session. By State law, no action may be taken in executive sessions.

During the week of Oct. 5, candidates selected to move forward in the process will participate in a second round of interviews with City Council and community panels.

A community forum will be held virtually via Zoom from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 7, to provide the public with an opportunity to meet the candidates and ask questions. To participate, community members must register in advance at https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_ocaMZK4kRK-16QtG8FBtug.

Candidates will be posted on the City’s website at cityofevanston.org/managersearch. Questions may be submitted in advance via https://cityofevanston.wufoo.com/forms/zi5v8fe020ai8x/ orlive during the forum.

After the candidate forum, the City Council will meet in Executive Session to identify a finalist, and GovHR will begin negotiations. When those negotiations have concluded, the City Council will announce and approve a contract with the new City Manager at its next meeting.
