It’s time to approach the affordable housing in Evanston from a practical point of view, and the building at 1900 Sherman does that by offering affordable apartments to at least a few people who do not want to leave Evanston.
To debate the height of the building should be non-negotiable as the only way to get more affordable housing in Evanston is through density. We must “go up” in order to achieve that.
Four or five stories just don’t provide enough housing in Evanston anymore. I urge the City Council to strongly support this unique offering of an affordable housing building for Evanston.
