Public Services Bureau Chief Edgar Cano has issued the following weather update for Tuesday, which includes a cold and messy morning:

“We are expecting a weather system to arrive close to 4 a.m. Tuesday morning, which may bring our first measurable snow of the season. The precipitation should start as a mix of wet snow, sleet, and rain, before turning to all rain as temperatures begin to climb. The potential for accumulating snow should end close to 9 or 10 a.m. Tuesday.

“Snow accumulation on elevated and grassy surfaces may reach 0.5 to 1 in. Pavement accumulation for Evanston is expected to be between a trace and 0.20 in.

“At this time there are no major concerns with this system. However, the precipitation may produce some slick spots toward the morning commute.  The PWA is on alert and ready to address the event as needed.”
