Evanston is in the midst of a pandemic, not a crime wave. Yet, by a 5-4 margin, Evanston City Council approved a budget that allocates $40 million for the Evanston Police Department and $1.5 million for Health and Human Services.

That’s 36 times more funding for police than for our suffering neighbors and friends.

A budget is a moral document, a statement of values. The 2021 City budget reflects very poorly on the values of the City of Evanston.
