The League of Women Voters of Evanston (LWVE) and the Evanston Public Library are sponsoring a series of candidate forums for the Feb. 23 Consolidated Primary Election.
Primary elections are held for a Mayoral race with more than two candidates, and also for Clerk and Aldermanic races with more than four candidates. The total count includes write-in candidates that have filed their intent to run with the City Clerk. Invitations to participate in the forums have been extended to all candidates.
The Primary candidate forums will be held via Zoom, and registration is required. Due to limited attendee capacity, the forums will also be streamed on the LWVE Facebook Live (@LWVEvanston). The forums will be later available for on-demand viewing on the LWVE website, lwve.org, and the LWVE YouTube Channel.
Forum dates for Candidates for Mayor, City Clerk, Fourth Ward Alderman and Eighth Ward Alderman:
Mayor: 1-2 p.m. on Jan. 30
City Clerk: 3-4:15 p.m. on Jan. 30
Alderman of Ward 8: 7-8:15 p.m. on Feb. 2
Alderman of Ward 4: 7-8:15 p.m. on Feb. 3
The public is invited to submit questions for the forums. Questions must be appropriate for the office and directed to all candidates. Questions can be submitted on the Zoom registration form or by email to lwvevanston@gmail.com. Deadline for questions is 48 hours prior to the event.
Registration for the forums can be found at lwve.org/2021-consolidated-election.html.
Questions regarding all forums may be submitted to lwvevanston@gmail.com, or 847-859-7883.
