Beams of light over the skies of Evanston on Jan. 19 commemorated those in the community who died from COVID-19. In coordination with the memorial lighting ceremony that took place in Washington D.C., a light truck stopped for 20 minutes in a park in each of the nine wards, beaming columns of light upward.
Residents were encouraged to observe a moment of silence during the light beam display, which took place at James, Kamen, Larimer, Clark Square, Dawes, Mason, Foster, Leahy and Lovelace parks between 4:30 and 9 p.m.
