Left to right: Devon Reid, Shelley Ann Carrillo, and Ann Rainey.

Welcome to the Evanston RoundCast – the third episode of the RoundTable’s podcast.

In this episode, veteran city reporter Bob Seidenberg interviews three candidates for Eighth Ward Alderman in the February 23rd primary: Clerk Devon Reid, Shelley Ann Carrillo, and Ald. Ann Rainey. The two other candidates running for the Eighth Ward primary – Matthew Mitchell and Joshua Hall – were invited but did not participate.

The lively conversation included discussion of the state of the Howard Street Business District, more inclusion of Black and Brown residents in discussion of Ward affairs, and whether Tax Increment Financing has benefited the ward.

In future episodes, the RoundCast will host discussions with other candidates as the general election approaches. The RoundCast also will focus in the weeks ahead on schools, arts and culture and social justice issues.

This episode was produced and edited by Evanston RoundTable Editorial Intern Sam Stroozas.

Evanston RoundTable Media NFP does not endorse candidates for political office.

The RoundCast also is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Stitcher.
