The City of Evanston is providing an update on trash and recycling collection services following more than 18 inches of snow accumulation this week.

Trash Collection

Groot has resumed trash collection services, and is currently focusing on areas that were missed on Tuesday. Collections will continue throughout the remainder of the week until all collections have been made.

Recycling Collection

City of Evanston recycling crews have been redeployed through Wednesday to assist with snow clearing operations. Recycling collections will resume on Thursday, beginning with areas that were missed on Monday due to weather conditions.

What Residents Can Do

Delays are anticipated with both trash and recycling collection throughout the remainder of the week. To assist operations, the City’s Public Works Agency is asking residents to do the following:

  • Place trash and recycling containers in their normal collection area on their regular collection day. If a collection was missed earlier this week, please leave the container(s) in their normal collection area until crews are able to empty them.
  • Clear snow on and around trash and recycling containers so that crews can access them.
  • Please be patient. There is no need to contact the City this week to report a missed collection. Delays are expected throughout this week.
  • For more information, please call/text 847-448-4311. For convenience, residents may simply dial 3-1-1 in Evanston.
