On this episode of the RoundCast, contributor Mark Miller talks with economist Darrick Hamilton, architect of the concept of baby bonds – a plan to address the racial wealth gap with a federal program that would provide every American child with a government funded trust account at birth, starting with a $1,000 contribution.
Mark also spoke with Dr. Hamilton about reparations – how they are a complimentary, but different – idea than baby bonds.
Dr. Hamilton heads the Institute for the Study of Race, Stratification and Political Economy at the New School in New York City.
A related story by Mark for The New York Times, also featuring an interview with Dr. Hamilton, can be found here.
