As the County Clerk continues to count mail-in ballots from the Feb. 23 primary election, one incumbent alderman has garnered a few votes. It is looking doubtful, however, that either Fourth Ward Alderman Donald Wilson or Eighth Ward Alderman Ann Rainey will be on the April 6 general election ballot. For those two wards, the primary election was a runoff contest, with the two candidates receiving the greatest number of votes moving on to the general election.

A Feb. 26 update from the County Clerk’s office showed that in the Fourth Ward race, Ald. Wilson, with 388 votes, trails challengers Diane Goldring, 441 votes, and Jonathan Nieuwsma, 529 votes.  In the Eighth Ward, Ald. Rainey is in third place with 315 votes, just 18 fewer than Matthew Mitchell’s 333 votes. Devon Reid, the current City Clerk, received 428 votes in his bid for that aldermanic seat.
