Maria Cruz, a healthcare worker at Alden Estates of Evanston was recently featured in Crain’s Chicago Business 2021 Notable Health Care Heroes section.
This special editorial feature recognizes health care workers like Ms. Cruz who have gone above and beyond to care for and serve others throughout the pandemic.
A statement from Alden Estates of Evanston said Ms. Cruz, who was serving as the Admissions Director there, began working the floor as a CNA in the COVID unit there because of the limited staffing caused by the pandemic. Ms. Cruz was credited by her peers for compassionately communicating with staff and frontline workers to relieve their stress.

Maria’s dedication is an example of the type of people we are proud to say are part of the Alden Network team,” said Robert Molitor, Chief Executive Officer. “It takes a special kind of person to do the job of a health care worker.
