“The Women in Our Lives” mini-documentary presented by Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre and Oakton Community College, premieres March 28 on the theatre’s YouTube channel.  The following day at 7 p.m. also via the theatre’s YouTube channel, viewers can see a staged reading of “I Will Never Give Up,” a new play written and performed by The Evanston PrimeTime Players and WiseUp Older Adult Theatre Club.

“The Women in Our Lives”

Fleetwood-Jourdain Artistic Director Tim Rhoze said, “We have collected some extraordinary stories shared by people celebrating the women who have had a soulful impact on them. I want to emphasize that the celebration of the Women in Our Lives is a daily celebration, a continuous show of gratitude. Enjoy the stories and if inspired to, reach out to the women who have nurtured and protected you along your life’s journey and share your appreciation for their guidance.”

The mini-documentary will debut at 7 p.m. on March 28 on the theatre’s  YouTube Channel as we express a heartfelt “Thank you” to The Women in Our Lives in this touching mini-documentary.

“I Will Never Give Up”

The virtual stage reading of this story – broadcast at 7 p.m. on March 29 on the theatre’s YouTube channel – centers on the life journey of Ms. Aretha, beginning in 1950, as she runs for Student Body President in a contentiously integrated high school.

This is where her journey begins, but then the play follows her amazing life “fighting for justice and equality for all people” for the next 70 years.

Mr. Rhoze says, “This sincere, often funny, poignant play is a must see for all. This diverse ensemble of non-professional actors, all members of the Evanston senior community, has poured their hearts and souls into every aspect of this wonderful production. You will love it.”

Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre founded the PrimeTime Players, an older adult theatre club, in 2010 with a number of the Foster Senior Club members signing on to take part in all things theatre. Reading and analyzing plays, participating in various theatre games and improvisation exercises, taking field trips to many of the Chicagoland theatres and enjoying some amazing play productions are what the vibrant PrimeTime Players do.

In 2019, WiseUp (formerly North Shore Village) joined the PrimeTime Players to help form a truly diverse older adult theatre club. Together, they have put their combined creative skills and talents to use and devised this original play.

Parental advisory: There is the use of some strong language.
