The sustainable business recognition program, Sustain Evanston, aims to encourage local businesses to make sustainability improvements, like installing energy efficient lighting or implementing a composting program, while helping the City meet the ambitious goals outlined in its Climate Action and Resilience Plan. Recognized business types for the 2021 program include office/retail, restaurant, healthcare, landscaping, and beauty/wellness/spa.
Businesses that complete the program will receive a Sustain Evanston storefront decal recognizing them as a sustainable business, a $350 cash incentive to help offset costs associated with meeting the program requirements, and a communications toolkit to highlight their sustainable achievements. The deadline for interested businesses to complete 10 sustainable actions and submit documentation is Sunday, July 11. Checklists and guidelines can be found here.
Wonderful..now need to get the larger businesses on board..car dealers, NWU, condo dwellings, grocery stores, hospitals, municipal buildings, golf courses, retirement homes ..these are facilities that would really add up.
