Evanston Property Assessment Appeals End June 7

Evanston township is now open for property tax assessment appeals through Monday, June 7.

This is the third year of the current three-year assessment period. Because of this, and the fact that the Assessor lowered the majority of assessments as a result of the COVID pandemic, it may not be as essential to appeal at this time.

Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin encourages residents to reach out to his office if they believe their property is still over assessed and would like to appeal. The office will also check to ascertain property owners are receiving the correct exemptions.

“We are still working remotely,” Mr. Suffredin said, “but will make sure that everyone is able to appeal and have their questions answered. Constituents should contact my office at 847-864-1209 or anewman@suffredin.org.”

Homeowners can visit Mitzi Gibbs, Property Tax Specialist, mgibbs@cityofevanston.org or 847-448-8168.

Evanston property owners can file appeals through June 7.
